Zano

Situated in the Center-East region of Burkina Faso, the Zano Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant is a pioneering renewable energy project developed by Qair. With a capacity to inject 38 GWh of electricity annually into the National Electricity Company (SONABEL) network, the plant significantly contributes to the country’s power supply.

The Zano project covers the electricity consumption needs of approximately 19,000 households, businesses, and industries, enhancing access to reliable energy sources in the region.

By producing clean energy, the project reduces over 19,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, aligning with Burkina Faso’s efforts to combat climate change.

As part of the project infrastructure, a 600-meter evacuation line, along with associated equipment, has been constructed and connected to the 132/33 kV Zano substation, ensuring efficient distribution of electricity.

The Zano Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant plays a crucial role in Burkina Faso’s commitment to achieving 15% renewable energy in its national energy mix by 2025. By harnessing solar energy, the project contributes to reducing reliance on costly and environmentally harmful diesel power generation.
